Ghina Adel Ismail

Psychology

Dr. Ismail is an Assistant Professor at the Psychology Department of the American University of Beirut. She is also a Clinical Associate at the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine where she serves as the Director of the Treatment and Outreach Program for Eating Disorders (TOP-ED). Dr. Ismail is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario as a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. She completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at James Madison University in 2008 and worked in various clinical and forensic settings in North America before her return to Lebanon in 2014. She is, currently, engaged in research closely related to her clinical practice in areas of eating disorders, historical trauma, and issues of spirituality. Dr. Ismail is trained in the provision of multiple psychotherapy modalities including psychodynamic, CBT, EMDR, mindfulness and bodily based interventions. Her main duties within the AUB psychology department involve teaching graduate and undergraduate clinical psychology courses, supervising student theses and clinical practica and contributing to the advancement and development of the clinical psychology program.
