Muhieddine Seoud

Dr Muhieddine Seoud had his MD from the AUB in 1981. He then completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at AUBMC and passed the Arab Board of speciality in 1987. In 1988, he had another residency training at the Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Jones Institute of IVF in Norfolk, Virginia. He then completed a fellowship in Pelvic Surgery and Gynecologic Oncology at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He returned to Lebanon and the AUBMC, and became a professor and the acting chairperson of the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2001-2003 and he is currently the Vice-Chairperson of the department since July 2011-2016. he is currently the head of the Gynecologic Oncology division since 2018. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 1995, of the American College of Surgeons since 2003, and of the American Society of Gynecologist Oncologists since 2008. He is the past-president of the Lebanese Ob-Gyn society. He is founding member of the Arab Gynecologic Oncology Society and the Lebanese Gynecologic Oncology Group (of which he is the current president). He is also a founding member of the Middle East and Mediterranean Gynecologic Oncology Society. He has been and is on the board of medical advisors of several international pharmaceutical companies. He has published over 130 original manuscripts in American and European Journals and presented in over 300 scientific meetings in the US, Europe and the Middle East. He has considerable experience in dealing with complicated gynecological and obstetrical surgeries including management of the adherent placenta and is a member of the FIGO Placenta Adherent Spectrum expert Panel responsible for writing the white paper on the subject. He is also responsible for organizing the Lebanese Percreta Group that streamlined the management of these condition to only 3 referral medical Center in Lebanon. Moreover, he has focused his research on the field of gynecologic oncology especially on HPV related diseases and ovarian cancer. He is the editor of the Middle East Monograph of the Vaccine Journal published December 30 2013 and co-authored the revision of the FIGO staging for ovarian cancer and the molecular classification of ovarian cancer both by the FIGO gynecologic oncology committee. he is founding member of the cyto-reductive surgery and hyperthermic intra-peritoneal Chemotherapy group for the treatment of advanced peritoneal carcinomatosis at the AUBMC who had the first such procedure in Lebanon.
