Rania Uwaydah Mardini

Rania Uwaydah Mardini is a full-time faculty member of the Olayan School of Business (OSB) at the American University of Beirut (AUB). She has also conducted several professional workshops, trainings, and conference presentations for the UNDP, the Lebanese Association of Certified Public Accountants, OSB’s Office of Executive Education, and the Institute of Finance of the Lebanese Ministry of Finance, among others. Her pedagogical experience spans an array of tasks (content development, delivery and assessment) and subjects (management accounting including budget preparation and budgetary control, financial reporting, internal and external audit, fraud examination and governance) for both students and professionals in the private and public sectors. Rania is also an accomplished international consultant in the areas of accountancy, financial control, anti-corruption, and governance. In that capacity and as a public financial management expert, she is a consultant to the Regional Bureau of Arab States of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). In addition, Rania is a Member of the International Panel on Accountancy Education (IPAE) that advises the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the Chair of its Public Sector Accountancy Education Consultative Group. Prior to this appointment, Rania served as [Board] Member of the International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB), the IPAE’s predecessor and Chair of its Public Sector Accounting, Reporting, and Assurance Task Force. Rania is also an advisor to the Task Force on INTOSAI Auditor Professionalization. Rania has several globally recognized literary contributions including her recent co-authored publication in the Global Health Action Special Edition commissioned by the World Health Organization, recent articles and implementation guidance for public sector accounting education published by IFAC, and the co-authorship of the second Middle East edition of McGraw-Hill’s Managerial Accounting textbook. Finally, Rania holds a BBA (with Distinction, 1996) and an MBA in Finance (1999) from AUB. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in both California, USA and Lebanon, a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), a Certified Corporate Director (IFC’s Corporate Governance Program for Corporate Directors), and she is certified in Public Financial Management (ACCA).
