Marie Kortam

Marie Kortam holds her Ph.D in Sociology from the University of Paris-Diderot. She is an Associate Researcher at the French Institute of the Near-East (IFPO - Beirut) and a scientific coordinator in the European project PAVE (Preventing and Addressing Violent Extremism through Community Resilience in the Balkans and MENA- H2020) at Fondation Maison des Siences de l’Homme. For 2 years (2018-2020), she occupied the position of Political Advisor in the Humanitarian dialogue Centre in Geneva working on security and political mediation in Lebanon. Marie’s research field is a “globalized violence” based on a different fieldwork in Lebanon and France. She developed a comparative research project, examining increasingly segregated spaces, reconfigurations and practices of violence. She has numerous publications and book chapters on Palestinian refugees, mobilized youth, violence, conflicts, inequalities, identities, radicalization process, and segregation.
