Carla Aramouny

Architecture and design

Carla Aramouny is an architect and assistant professor at the American University of Beirut, Department of Architecture and Design. She holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Architecture from the Lebanese American University. Prior to joining AUB in a full time position, Carla practiced architecture in several renowned offices in Beirut and New York, where her work within the firms received notable international and local awards. She currently develops her own design work in parallel to teaching, focusing on intersections of architecture and the expanded environment. Her research reflects on alternative and hybrid architecture through concerns for the natural environment and infrastructure, and on digital/analog shifts in making and representation. Her writings and teaching have been presented and published in several international conferences and exhibitions. She is currently serving as the Architecture program coordinator and is founder and director of ArD Tech Lab, a digital fabrication and research lab at AUB.
