Architecture and design
Sharifa Alshalfan is an urban researcher and consultant who recently completed a visiting fellowship at London School of Economics where she led the Spaces of Living project at LSE Kuwait, as principal investigator. Her research interests include land-use policies and urban governance with a focus on housing in the GCC states. She has a particular interest in the housing welfare system in Kuwait, and its urban and social effects on the country. Her work has been published by the international journal CITY: Analysis of urban trends, culture, theory, policy, action and by the Kuwait Programme at LSE, as well as by other international and local Kuwaiti publications. She is also active in giving lectures in the GCC regarding both housing, urbanism and architecture. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Southern California and an MSc in City Design and Social Science from London School of Economics.
