Bio: Dr. Anthony Macari is a an Associate Professor at the Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon.
Dr. Macari earned his dental degree (DDS) from Saint Joseph University in Beirut (2001), and a Graduate Diploma in Oral Biology from the Lebanese University (2002). He completed a postgraduate residency in Orthodontics at AUBMC combined with a Diploma in Orthodontics (DES) from the Lebanese University (2005), and spent a year as Chief Resident at AUBMC (2005-2006). He holds an MS degree in Human Morphology from AUB’s Faculty of Medicine (2008).
Dr. Macari is a diplomat of the European Board of Orthodontics. He is a member of the European Orthodontic Society (EOS), International Association of Dental Research (IADR), a founding member of the Lebanon Association for Dentofacial Research (LADR), and an awarded member in the prestigious Eastern component of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontics. He was Three times the recipient of the Habib Rihan Award from the Lebanese Dental Association for presentations at the association’s annual meetings in 2004, 2005 and 2009. Dr. Macari received the 2011 Aesthetic Dentistry MENA Award, first price in Congenital and Maxillofacial Deformities. Dr. Macari is a co-founder of the Dental Medicine Alumni chapter at AUB.
Dr. Macari’s main research focuses is the interface between craniofacial morphology and Head and Neck function (early effect of nasal obstruction on facial morphology, and the optimal timing for removal of adenoids and tonsils, and relationship between craniofacial morphology and voice parameters) and etiology of malocclusion and facial esthetics ranging from determination of genetic components of mandibular prognathism to facial esthetics in different facial types. His scholarly contributions include more than twenty peer reviewed journal publications. He is an invited speaker at local, regional and international meetings. Dr. Macari is a reviewer for major orthodontic and dental journals
