CONNEKT is a research and action project involving 14 partners from the EU, the MENA region and the Balkans and targeting 8 MENA and Balkan countries (Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Northern Macedonia and Bulgaria) that will last 3.5 years. Its objective is to establish a multidimensional map of the drivers of violent extremism among 12-30 year olds in the MENA and the Balkans and to identify the interactions between them. Multidisciplinary research and a multi-stakeholder approach will enrich empirical and academic research in order to provide a comprehensive picture of the drivers of VET among youth in the target countries. Using a modular methodology, the project will be phased so that the results of one phase can inform the research and data analysis for subsequent phases at key stages. A final stage will be devoted to research on the prevention of human error from a community perspective and will converge into a set of actions and recommendations on prevention measures implemented at local and community level.
