Nisreen Haj Ahmad

Social work

Nisreen Haj Ahmad is the co-founder and co-director of Ahel and founder of Mujtama3i whose mission is the support communities organize campaigns for justice and freedom. She has been working in the region for the past few years helping people organize. She has also maintained her connection with Harvard where she studied, she is currently a research fellow at the Hauser Center at the Harvard Kennedy School and she was a teaching fellow for an organizing online course early 2010. In 2008, she completed her Masters in Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School were she studied community organizing with professor Marshall Ganz. She was also a fellow at the Harvard Center for International Development. Before entering the world of organizing, and from 1999 to 2007, she was providing legal counsel to the Palestinian negotiating team in the peace talks with Israel and before it legal council to the Palestinian Ministry of Economy on international trade agreements. In 1996, she received her LL.M in international trade law from the University of Edinburgh. In 1995, she received her bachelors’ degree in law from the University of Jordan.
